Walters Family Genealogy A family with this surname was first found in Cambridgeshire where they held a family seat from early times as Lords of the manor or Crowhurst. Some of the first American settlers of this name were: William Walters, a fisherman, who settled in Trinity, Newfoundland, in 1757; and Casper Walter from England, who settled in New York in 1709 with his wife and nine children. Our lineage to this family can be traced to BETSY WALTERS, who married ELNATHAN SANDERSON (1777 - 1854) on February 12, 1801. They had nine children: Betsy (b. 1802), DAVID (b. 1804), Julia (b. 1806), Edward W. (b. 1809), Marvin (b. 1811), Sherman Stephanson (b. 1814), Delana (b. 1817), Amanda (b. 1819), and Silvia J. Sanderson (b. 1822). Very little has been recorded of this family.
