   The surname of Larsen is Danish and Norwegian in origin: a patronymic surname from the personal name Lars, the Scandinavian equivalent of the Middle English and Old French personal names Lawrence, Lorens, or Laurence (from the Latin: Laurentius, meaning ‘man from Laurentum’, a place in Italy probably named from its laurels or bay trees). The name also comes from a saint who was martyred at Rome in the 3rd century AD; he enjoyed a considerable cult throughout Europe.
   The name "Larsen" was first first found in West Prussia and Denmark, where the name emerged in mediaeval times as one of the notable families in the western region. The family Coat of Arms: A black shield with a red bull's head, which stands for "Strength, Valor, and Magnanimity."
   Many Larsens settled in the United States in the great migration from Europe during the mid 17th century. Migrants settled in the eastern seaboard from Newfoundland, to Maine, to Florida, and to the islands.

   MADS LARSEN and GERTIE MARTINA HANSEN were married on the 24th of February, 1925, at Spring Valley Lutheran in Viborg, South Dakota.
   Their son LEE LARSEN married JANET RICE, and they had three children: HALDEN LARSEN on the 27th of October in 1964, William in 1966, and Tina in 1968.
   Their eldest, Halden, married KATHLEEN ELLEN HAUSE on the 29th of June 1985 at First Lutheran Church in Vista, San Diego, CA.
   They have three children:


  • SASHA ELLEN MARIE LARSEN was born on 14 Jul 1987 in Oceanside, San Diego Co., CA. Sasha kicks butt at field hockey, and becomes a Tiger here. On 11 Oct 2014 she married COLE AKINS in San Diego Co., CA. They had a son, GRAHAM AKINS, on 4 May 2018 in Seattle, WA.
  • DYLAN JEFFREY LEE LARSEN was born on 28 Apr 1990 in Oceanside, San Diego Co., CA.
  • CAMILLE LARSEN was born on 04 Jun 1998 in Oceanside, San Diego Co., CA.
