Meyer Family Genealogy The surname was first found in throughout southern Germany, where the family was anciently seated. (A seat or family seat was the principal manor of a medieval lord, which was normally an elegant country mansion and usually denoted that the family held political and economic influences in the area.) Our lineage to the Meyer family can be traced back to GALLUS MEYER (d. 1658) of Rotzel, Baden, Germany. He married ELISABETH SCHUP (d. 18 Feb 1688/89) in 1646, and they had five children. One of those children was BARBARA MEYER (10 Jan 1657/58 - 24 Dec 1724) who married NICHOLAS TRÖNDLE (d. 30 Jan 1724/25) on the 16th of February in 1680/81.
