Eckert Family Genealogy The name was first found in Bavaria, where the family became noted for its many branches within the region (variations include Eck, Ecker, Ecke, Ekker, Eker, Ekke, Eckher, Eckherr, Echer, Eckermann and many more), many houses acquiring a status and influence which rivaled that of the landed aristocracy. Our lineage can be traced to VERENA ECKERT (1682 - 1 May 1752) of Niederwihl, who married ADAM MÜTTER (d. 1728) and had seven children. Their daughter, SALOMEA MÜTTER (24 Dec 1719 - 15 Sep 1758), married JOSEPH BANHOLZER (1 Apr 1719 - 13 Dec 1779) on the 15th of June, 1742, in Gorwihl. They had eight children, including our ancestor, MARIA BAHOLTZER (27 Jun 1743 - 25 Dec 1800). She married JOSEPH WENK (21 Sep 1733 - 17 Aug 1797), also of Russwil, on the 8th of October in 1767. They had JOHAN MICHAEL WENK on the 11th of December, 1772, in Ebersbirhl, Germany.
