Banholtzer Genealogy
The surname was first found in Swabia, where the name came from noble beginnings and gained a significant reputation for its contribution to the emerging mediaeval society. Our lineage can be traced to JOHANN BAHOLTZER (d. 1723), who married KUNIGUDE STRITTMATTER (1690 - 19 Nov 1742) of Herr Enschwand, on the 18th of November in 1714. They had five children, including our ancestor, JOSEPH BANHOLZER (1 Apr 1719 - 13 Dec 1779). Joseph married SALOMEA MÜTTER (24 Dec 1719 - 15 Sep 1758) of Rubwihl on the 15th of June, 1742, in Gorwihl. They had eight children, including our ancestor, MARIA BAHOLTZER (27 Jun 1743 - 25 Dec 1800). She married JOSEPH WENK (21 Sep 1733 - 17 Aug 1797), also of Russwil, on the 8th of October in 1767. They had Johan Michael WENK (11 Dec 1772) in Ebersbirhl, Germany.
