|
Our line of the family descends from a man named ABRAM CANE, who was born @1740, and lived in Virginia.
Abram fought in the American Revolution, serving in the 7th Regiment in Virginia between 1776 and 1778. He took some time out from the war to raise a family however, because the next generation in our family line was born a few years later during that conflict. We know nothing of his spouse, and only one of his children: His son, named ABRAHAM, who was born around 1781.

He could be this man, listed in the 1850 Virginia Census: "CAIN/CANE (943) Abraham," a 70-year-old farmer owning $1200 in property, with his wife, REBECCA, aged 72. ELLEN WINTERS, the last child of their daughter, Rebecca (below), lived with the Canes in 1850, in District 33, Marshall, Virginia. They were still alive ten years later for the next census, too, but were free of any grandkids.
Abraham's
daughter, REBECCA CANE (1810 - 1834) was born in Pennsylvania. She married REES
WINTERS in 1821, and moved to West Virginia. They had seven kids. Rebecca
died in 1834, and is buried at Fosters Cemetery (Peninsula or Old Beeler Station
Cemetery).
The children of Rees and Rebecca are:
