Last Will & Testament

   In the name of God Amen. I John Haus of the town of Warwick county of Orange and State of New York and and under being weak in body but of sound mind and memory blessed by almighty God for the same do make and publish this my last will and Testament in the manner and form following that is to say, first I give and bequith (sic) unto my ownly beloved son William one bay mare and one black cow with a white face which he is to have at my deceas and likewise all my clothes which I leave at my death, and all the rest of my property I leave for the use and support of my wife Sarah after my just debts are paid and funeral expenses discharged which property I leave in the hands of my executors to give for the support of my wife—as need require while she remains my widow and at her decease or marriage to another man the then remaining part from my Estate I distribute in the following manner one quarter part to John Hause, (?), my grand son, son of Simon Haus and all the rest I give to my son William Haus whome I apoint with my trusty friend James Burt Esq. the executors of this my last will and testament. I do hereby utterly disallow rebuke (sic) and disanul and every other former testaments, wills, legasies bequest and executors by me in any wise before named and confirming this my last will and testament, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 21 day of August one thousand seven hundred and ninety five Signed Sealed and pronounced and declared by the said John Haus as his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in this presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names. Orange County SS: Be it remembered that on the first day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand and seven hundred and ninety six personally appeared before me James Everett Esq. Surrogate of the said County of Orange Samuel Drew of the said County of Orange and State of New York and being duly sworn upon his oath declared that he did see John Haues deceased sign and seal the written instrument then shown unto him; of which the preceding is a true copy and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last will and testament that at the time thereof he the said John Hause was of a sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of him the deponent and that he together with George House and Simon Hause subscribed their names as Witnesses thereto in the presence of the testator and in the presence of each other—

The preceding is a true copy of the original will of John Haues deceased of the certificate of the proof thereof and of the letters testamentary thereon
